The Mequon Soccer Club held its Mequon Fall Cup tournament on October 20-21.  The weather was brisk but beautiful for this annual event, and it was attended by 116 teams from Wisconsin and surrounding states.  "In a year that has been very difficult for a number of tournaments in the Midwest, we were very pleased with the large turnout this year," said tournament director Sheryl Daczka.  The tournament included both boys and girls divisions from U9 - U18, playing a total of 192 games, with 23 division/bracket champions.

Several changes were implemented this year as part of the Club's ongoing effort to improve the tournament experience.  One of the changes was the use of food trucks instead of the traditional Club-sponsored food service, which lowered volunteer requirements for the tournament and also improved the food choices for participants.  The tournament this year also included the involvement of community businesses through a field sponsorship program, which involved both signage at the fields as well as print and web advertising.  "The field sponsorship program helps raise awareness of the event in the local community, and benefits local businesses by promoting their services to the tournament participants," said Mrs. Daczka, adding  "We are very grateful to our sponsors and look forward to continuing to improve and grow this event in the coming years."

Next years event will be held on the weekend of Oct. 19 and 20.
